Jeffrey Goldberg, a writer for The Atlantic, has had the language mavens at the NY Times tell him that his Yiddish is unsuitable for their paper.
In an interview with Helene Cooper he used the word tukhus, ass.
This word, which has been used by many mainstream figures and is probably known in such centers of Yiddish as Centerville, Iowa and Blue Ball, Pa, apparently is not acceptable for the paper of record.
In their opinion, tush was preferable.
Whatever.
