Imagine if the head of the CIA came up for reappointment and was refused.
Would this be news?
You bet it would. You would hear it from CNN, NPR, the NY Times, etc. etc.
Meir Dagan, whom we reported on recently as criticizing Obama’s pressure on Israel to give land to the people attacking it, has been Mossad chief since 2002. He just requested another year as chief. He was denied this, according to Israeli TV channel 2.
As of this point, the media has ignored this story.
Dagan was appointed eight years ago by former Prime Minister Ariel Sharon to head the Mossad, and his term was later extended – twice by former Prime Minister Ehud Olmert and, in 2009, current premier Benjamin Netanyahu decided to keep Dagan on for another year.
The Prime Minister’s Office would not comment on the report.
